I Sverige dör drygt 1 % av befolkningen varje år enligt SCB och Socialstyrelsen (se länk nedan), I Mexico är väl siffran inte allt för olika, om det bor 25 000 000 människor i Mexico city så betyder det att om man använder samma dödstal som för hela Sverige så dör det 753 personer om dagen i Mexico City
I Sverige dör det årligen upp till 200 personer till följd av influensa omräkningen till Mexico City innebär att 565 personer per år och knappt 2 personer om dagen skulle dö i influensa, men det är då fördelat under hela året och ingen influensa kommer jämt över ett år.
Om man då ser till antalet dödsfall så här långt så ser med tanke på att det var ett tag sedan utbrottet kom, inte ut att vara en allt för aggressiv eller farlig influensa. Enligt WHO har dessutom endast sju (7) dödsfall kunnat knytas till influensan
